Home Comforts

Felt like I needed a detox from university life and so I had a weekend retreat back to my hometown! My weekend included my favourite place Swanbourne lake, roast dinners, sticky toffee pudding, snow, rescue dogs, costa date with my favourite girls and a new light up 'N' for my bedroom!

Plein Warriors | Milan Fashion Week Fall 2015

The controversial German designer Philipp Plein lived up to his extravagant label by producing an incredible show last Saturday (17th January) at Milan Fashion Week. Plain pinned his show last Saturday around around a cage fight set, along with the live performance of Snoop Dogg. Controversial in relation to other Milan Fashion Week shows; most of which are classic, sophisticated and sleek in terms of menswear. - Thats exactly why I love Plein's individuality,

(If you haven't already seen the show, I have attached a video below.) Snoops Dogg was sporting a grey hoodie and sweat pants designed by the 36 year old Plein as he performed in a boxing ring alongside two 'fighters'. The models emerged from the mouth of a giant tigers head, defined in geometric vectors with eyes that projected beams of light. The models then circled the cage showing off Plein's strong designs! Tag lines such as "Plein Warriors" "Bigger Better Stronger" "Unstoppable" and "Drop it like its hot" were plastered over social media, following these strong silhouttes. Moreover; the strong textures, horned helmets and cyborg style six packs were emulating the message of these street style warriors.

Overshadowing Versaces previous show, Plein shocked the Press, known for being a 'bad boy' in fashion, the press and critics are known for turning up their noses at his shows! (With previous shows featuring all black cast of models in Spring 2014 and not forgetting hiring a stressed lined Lohan to star in his ad). However, I find his personal style and carefree attitude admirable. He doesn't care what the press think, recently stating, "We are selling... I am a customer boy, I am not here to please press!"

The micro-trends emerging from Philipp Plein's Fall 2015 collection is surely to be the popular sports-to-streetwear that has been pumped to the max with luxury steroids. I think it is fair to say we are unlikely to see men sporting the €30,000- €35,000 crocodile or python prints. However, a trend i can recommend to keep an eye out for on the streets is the LED flashing sole high top trainers, as seen in Topshop (clickable links here: Techno light up and TRANCE light up) along with the ultra cool street style brand www.Iamvitalle.com and Monsta (click link here) .

LDN

Had a lovely day exploring London with my mum today! We started off in Camden market (which feels like a foreign country), with a huuuge collection of cultures and shops - my favourites being the morroccon light shop and the insane Cyberdog shop! I hadn't been to Camden since i was tiny so it felt like a new place again, especially as now i'm older and studying fashion i can see everything in a different perspective.

We then headed towards Oxford and Regent street, ending up in my favourite shop Selfridges! Even caught some street dancers near Piccadilly Circus (check my instagram @nataliejaynebowles)

I have a slight obsession with jumpers/jeans/trainers (yup - basically dressing like a boi) so i picked up these two sweatshirts pictured below.

Back to university this weekend!

Christmas make-up treat

So i have the most incredible sister in the world who spoilt me rotten this christmas, I was treated to some amazing fancy new make-up as i seem to live in Body Shop products (still only use Body Shop BB moisturising cream on my whole face as I don't like foundation at allll) however, it felt so goooood to get some designer stuff in my make-up bag! Thought i would review some of them for y'all.

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker in Candygloss colour this stuff is straight up amazing, i have no idea what is in it but after a couple minutes of  applying it, it tingles your lips and (apparently actually has a small allergic reaction) anywho it makes your lips so plump and soft and lasts for hours!

Soap & Glory Archery brow, pen in Brownie Points  another amazing product, i previously used body shop brow powder but that just seemed to sit onto of my brows and rub off after a couple hours, i wanted to achieve the (Kardashian) arch in my brow so this precision pen is brilliant, comes in a crayon thingmabob aswell but I've only used the pen so far.

Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder One of my favourites! the cutest little box of powder and brush to blend bronzing powder to achieve shadows for the perfect cheekbone shapes! Pair this with the Laura Mercier Secret Brightner which is amazing for use above the apples of the cheeks and around the eyes - close enough to contouring! (I cant be hassled with contouring, keep it as natural as possible!)

Nars concealer in Honey all time favourite! makes skin look flawless, i use it under my eyes and its so smooooth with even coverage i lav it!

Elizabeth Arden mascara been using this for past couple years and always does the job perfectly.

Blog Update

So i haven't posted since October! Life has gone abit mental as I've been going out clubbing too many times and drowning in university work (not that I'm complaining as I'm still only a first year) while also working in retail at Hollister Co to live the student life. However, over the past few weeks and after lotsa research I've realised exactly what i am meant to do in the Fashion Industry - and that is Fashion Show Production (mostly due to the fact i teared up from watching Victorias Secret Fashion show). Can say bye bye to outfit of the days posts! My university housemates used to laugh at me as i would do a fancy stylish "outfit of the day" photography post including nice hair accessories heels the lot and then change straight back into leggins and a baggy jumper. hahaaaa.. thats just the thing though, i love nothing more than baggy jumpers, t-shirts, ripped jeans and trainers - so basically i dress like a guy half my life. I am not a stylist or a fashion blogger, however my mind is filled with crazy creative ideas filled with music and lights!

enough of the gay truth stuff now.

This blog will now include everything that inspires me - university projects, books, fashion collections, fashion runway mood board ideas, my personal style and music that i lurrrrve.

First things first I wanna share with you one of the group projects we did at university on fashion magazine editorials, we had to choose our own concept, we chose the  modern 60's coming back in fashion, then we shoot and edited all our own photos using photoshop (along with a dull long essay). We decided to use the publication 'Wonderland' as it fits pretty well with their whacky music and movie led themes. Atleast i discovered i AM NOT a model, its a miracle i managed to keep a straight face, all imaged have some sort of smirk as i can not stop laughing.
