collars up

With this current hormonal british weather we're having at the moment i thought i would share some of my summer jackets with you all. Pull & Bear is a great affordable store especially for classic styled jackets, i first discovered this store in Palma de Mallorca on holiday in Spain a couple of years ago, so needless to say i was very excited when i found out they had a new store in Brighton! I bought this leather jacket back at Christmas time, the gold detailing and the pattern on the arms is what really caught my eye! I recently bought this pink silky bomber jacket aswell as its so effortless to throw on in breezy spring weather, and (again) i loved the gold zip. Yesterday i received this beaut white jacket which i cant wait to wear!

P.S. I also let out my inner nerd yesterday and went on a little de-tour to the library to hunt for some fashion marketing books to help get some extra knowledge before i start my course in September, and i also came across Cara Delevingne bibliography and even after reading a few pages i think i love her life, she speaks such real words! Great inspiration.

fancy feet

Thought i would share my love for my new favourite spring/summer shoes. Ive seen quite a few people wearing these Topshop slip-ons and me being my stubborn self I'm usually put-off by high street items that every teenage girl wears, however i fell slightly in love with the simplicity of these and the fact they  literally match everything in my wardrobe. If you're looking into buying them though i advise you to wear them around the house a few times before hitting the streets with them as they rubbed the backs of ankles. The black boots pictured below are from New Look and i thought they're perfect for day or night and are super duper comfy. My favourite daytime shoes of all time are my trusty pale pink converse which i lived in last summer and probably will this year aswell - they're an amazing investment. It's handy how all these shoes can also be worn for AW14, so can last me all year round! Even though knowing my obsessive shopping habits i would have probably replaced them in a couple months time.

I won't be blogging for a few days since I'm heading back to my university in Winchester to clear out my accommodation halls (and have lots of end of term parties). But i always update my instagram @greenstblog as its so quick and easy to use on-the-go!

distressing my jeans

This is one trend that i am obsessed with this season - ripped denim jeans. I live in Topshop's famous jamie and leigh jeans however I think we can all agree the classic jean was beginning to get slightly boring. I think every girl (no matter how fashionable) loves incorporating abit of the 'badass' biker/rocker look into their outfit.

I personally love these blue denim ones to bits, however i did have my mind set on some white ripped denim for the summer therefore i bought some plain skinny jeans for an amazing £10 in Primark (and they surprisingly fit really well) and attempted to make my own rips - this is so easy to do however i warn you it does take such a long time, one day soon i will continue to work on them as i think they still look abit too neat for my liking! It is such a cheap alternative though if you have some spare time and enjoy getting creative, it also gives you the power to decide how you want them to look, i used Rachelleea video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7Qpu4vwtc8 on YouTube as help to  control myself so i wouldn't get scissor happy and cut half a leg off.

pink is my alternative to black

With my recent obsession with instagram (@greenstblog) my followers and page views have shot up! Thank you all so much for your interest and i apologise for not writing one of my rambling posts for a while but i have been very busy and enjoying the beautiful UK weather!

After adopting the mind-set for months that most H&M clothes were boring and dull - my shopping trip the other day has completely converted my mind! Their new stock of summery clothes are beautiful. I personally feel every H&M store i go in each has a completely different vibe and collection of clothes depending on the stores area/buyer. My favourite new buys is this cute playsuit and jumper - I'm sure many of you can relate to having a wardrobe stacked with black and white clothing (who can blame us when it goes with everything) but i also discovered that pale pink suits my dark features so I'm trying to incorporate some girly pink shades into my outfits.

Love how this playsuit can be worn day or night with flip flops and denim jacket or stiletto heels and leather jacket. The jumper can also be worn all year round and matches near enough everything in my wardrobe due to its simplicity.

Im a strong believer in buying less but choosing better (besides the fact I'm also a student on a budget lol) H&M is the perfect store for some classic styles. Everyone should get their bums down to a city store for some bargains!

NYC - Met Gala Ball 2014

Just incase you were abit unsure about the purpose of this seemingly fairytale event the Met Ball is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institutue (abit of a mouthful!) It is considered to be the fashion industries premier red carpet event - as you can probably tell by all the beautifully dressed designer celebs; it is regarded as one of the most exclusive events in New York since beginning in 1971, especially with each invitee splashing out ($25,000) £15,000 on a single ticket. It also serves as a celebration for the annual fashion exhibit while also being a massive fundraising night! I personally love the fact that each year is a different theme, this years being Charles James: Beyond Fashion, so that each celebrity can use this to plan their outfits and express themselves in different ways. Many peoples reactions to this event is the question 'What importance does this event have on us?' (apart from making us green eyed by scrolling through photos of beautiful expensive outfits) Well, this event has a huge influence over trends on the high street - many fashion retailers keep their eyes peeled for a new trend they can cash in on, even Nicole Richie got criticised for her dress on the night (even though i personally think she looks great) but you just wait until Topshop and Zara catch on to her style and start selling asymmetric back jewellery for summer 2014!

I'll stop blabbing now and will show you some pretty pictures, here are some of my favourite looks from Met Ball 2014 providing us with the re-assurance that the Ball Gown isn't dead, however this year has embraced the look of old world elegance which could prove tricky for stores to emulate.
